Guided cruises on the Lot: passing through the lock aboard the « Valentré »
Discover Cahors from the water, pass under the arches of the bridge and cross a lock
Seeing Cahors from the river completely changes your perspective: glide along the foot of limestone cliffs, pass right under the arches of Pont Valentré, and experience passing through the lock.
An hour and a quarter of fresh air on the Lot loop
As soon as the sunny days arrive (from April to early October), the excursion boat « Le Valentré » casts off a stone's throw from Pont Valentré. For about 1h15, you circle the Cahors peninsula on the water: you can see the old mills, the Tour des Pendus and the Palais Duèze from below — right behind our rue du Château du Roi — as well as medieval houses suspended over the river.
The highlight: passing under Pont Valentré and through the lock
The live commentary (lively and full of anecdotes about the bargemen who transported Cahors wine down to Bordeaux) accompanies the passage through the Coty lock and past the 14th-century fortified arches. It is the only way to see the bridge this close from the water.
Departures every day from April to late September / early October (generally at 11h00, 14h30, 15h00 and 16h30 depending on the season). Duration: 1h15 to 1h30.
In the height of summer, the late morning cruise or the 16h30 one is particularly pleasant to enjoy the breeze on the upper deck.
