Your next day's stage on the GR65: from Cahors to Lascabanes & Montcuq (Quercy Blanc)
What awaits you after your night at Château du Roi: route profile, distances and water points
Leaving Cahors, the landscape changes radically: you leave the ochre cliffs of the Lot valley to enter the bright white light and limestone hills of the Quercy Blanc, towards Lascabanes, Montcuq and Lauzerte.
1. Kilometre landmarks for the stage Cahors → Lascabanes (22,5 km · approx. 5h30 to 6h00 walk)
From 98 rue du Château du Roi, allow 1,1 km on flat ground in Cahors to reach the Pont Valentré. Once past the climb up the Croix de Magne, the trail follows the limestone plateaus to Labastide-Marnhac (km 10), continues towards the hamlet of L’Hospitalet (km 16,5 — a popular pilgrim stopover in season) and reaches Lascabanes (km 22,5). The most seasoned walkers sometimes press on to Montcuq (around 30,5 km total).
2. Important precautions: water and sun on the Quercy Blanc plateau
The Quercy Blanc owes its name to its dazzling white limestone rock. The trail is very bright and much more exposed to the sun than in the forest. Plan for at least 2 litres of water per person when leaving the studio in the morning, a hat and snacks, as you will not find any bakeries or grocery shops between the exit of Cahors and Lascabanes.
3. Enjoy the studio to prepare your morning departure independently
The studio's fully equipped kitchen (kettle, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hob) allows you to have breakfast at the exact time you wish to set off (even at 06h00 or 06h30 in the morning). Simply drop the keys into the secure key box on your way out.
Independent morning departure at the time of your choice (up to 11h00 maximum). Simply return the keys to the key box on rue des Trois-Baudus as you leave.
Buona strada / Ultreïa! We wish you a wonderful journey through the Quercy Blanc towards Santiago de Compostela.
