Where to park in Cahors? Free car parks and the 17h30 → 10h00 trick

Our local tips to park easily, for free and worry-free just a few minutes from the studio

Don't feel like paying for parking or searching for a spot when you arrive? Here is our complete guide to free car parks in Cahors (Aviron, Charles de Gaulle, Chartreux with free shuttle) and the secret 1-hour free parking trick to park right outside the accommodation from 17h30 to 10h00 in the morning without spending a cent.

1. The Golden Trick: Park for free from 17h30 to 10h00 in the morning right outside the accommodation

In Cahors, street parking is paid from 09h00 to 12h30 and from 14h00 to 18h30. Outside these time slots (from 12h30 to 14h and from 18h30 to 09h00), as well as the entire weekend from Saturday 12h30 to Monday 09h00, it is 100% FREE.

The City of Cahors also offers 1 free hour per day at the parking meter (or via the Flowbird / PayByPhone app). By arriving at 17h30, you take your free hour which covers you until 18h30. From 18h30 to 09h00 the next day, parking is free all night. And at 09h00 the next morning, you take the new day's free hour which covers you until 10h00! Result: 16h30 consecutive hours of free parking as close as possible to the studio.

2. Free Aviron car park (Quais de Regourd · 6 min walk · 500 m)

Located to the north along the Lot (Quai de Regourd / Club d’Aviron Cadurcien). This shaded surface car park is 100% free day and night, with no time limit. To reach 98 rue du Château du Roi, simply walk flat along the Lot on the quays (Quai de Regourd then Quai Champollion), then go up Rue Saint-Barthélemy: a flat, pleasant and safe 9-minute walking route.

3. Charles de Gaulle car park (Boulevard Gambetta · 6 min walk · 580 m)

Located at Place Charles de Gaulle. This central car park has free spots and time slots with parking disc/meter, completely free every evening, lunchtime and all weekend. The walking route takes the main Boulevard Léon Gambetta, then Rue Nationale and Place Chapou (6 minutes walk on flat ground).

4. Small free car parks

Several small free car parks are available near the building, closer than the others but also smaller. Have a look around Quai Jean Lagrive or Quai de la Verrerie, both located 350 m from Rue du Château du Roi.

5. The practical drop-off area to unload your suitcases 50 m away

As Rue du Château du Roi is a charming medieval paved pedestrian street, you can drive your vehicle to within 80 meters on flat ground (corner of Quai Champollion / Rue Clemenceau or Place de la Libération) to unload your luggage peacefully before parking your car in one of the free car parks.

Aviron and Chartreux car parks are free 24/7 without restriction. On-street parking in the city centre: paid 9h-12h30 and 14h-18h30 (free 12h30-14h, free 18h30-9h, free from Saturday 12h30 to Monday 9h). 1 free hour per day at the parking meter.

If you arrive after 17h30, park directly in the city centre and get the 1-hour free ticket. The next day at 9h00, get the free hour which will extend your parking until 10h00
